Sundarban is the name of a natural wonder, it is the largest mangrove forest in the world. The total area of the Sundarbans is about 10,000 square kilometers, which is jointly between Bangladesh and India. The Bangladesh part of the Sundarbans covers an area of 6,017 sq km. The Sundarbans of Bangladesh is part of Khulna, Satkhira, Bagerhat, Patuakhali and Barguna districts. In 1997, UNESCO recognized the Sundarbans as a World Heritage Site.
The Sundarbans, rich in biodiversity, will be called a museum of animals and plants. The Sundarbans covers 1,84 sq km of waterlogged areas, including rivers and beels. The Sundarbans is known for being home to a wide variety of birds, including the Royal Bengal Tiger, Chitra deer, crocodiles and snakes. There are about 350 species of plants, 120 species of fish, 260 species of birds, 42 species of mammals, 35 species of reptiles and 6 amphibians. The Sundarbans is named after the beautiful tree. Waterways are the only way to get into the Sundarbans. Winter is a good time to visit the Sundarbans.
Everything to see in the Sundarbans
Jamtala Beach: There is an observation tower in Jamtala, from which one can see some of the beauty of the Sundarbans. And if you are lucky, you can see deer or tiger from here.
Mandarbaria Beach: Some parts of Mandarbaria beach are still considered undiscovered. Sunrise and sunset can be seen from here.
Heron Point: Deer, monkeys, guisaps and crocodiles can be seen walking on the beautiful wooden road of Heeran Point. Here also Bengal Tiger is seen occasionally.
Dublar Char: Dublar Char is a small char in the Sundarbans area. The river that flows through Dublar Char merges with the Bay of Bengal.
Cuttack Beach: Cuttack Sea Beach is very clean and beautiful. There are works of art of red crabs painted all over the beach.
Arrangements to leave Dhaka
There are buses, trains and launches directly from Dhaka to Khulna. Sohag, Hanif and Eagle Paribahan buses regularly ply from Dhaka to Khulna from 6 am to 11 pm. It takes about 6 hours to reach Khulna by road from Dhaka. There are launches of different companies going to Khulna from Sadarghat launch terminal in Dhaka.
If you want to see the Sundarbans from Khulna, you have to go to Mongla, 50 kilometers away. There are private cars and buses from Khulna to Mongla. You can rent a trawler or launch from Mongla Ghat to Karamjal in the Sundarbans in two hours. If you want, you can return to Khulna in the evening by visiting the Sundarbans from Mongla in the morning.

General cost of Sundarbans travel package: Depending on the quality of the food and the ship, a medium type of outing usually costs Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000 per person. It is difficult to get a vessel if you do not confirm the booking in advance a month in advance.
Travel expenses to the Sundarbans
Daily per capita travel fee for domestic tourists in the sanctuary area is Rs. 150, for students - Rs. 30, for foreign tourists - Rs. 1500. Outside the sanctuary, the travel fee for domestic tourists is Rs. 80, for students Rs. 20, for foreigners Rs. 1000 and for researchers Rs. 40. The travel fee for domestic tourists in Karamjal is 20 rupees per person, 300 rupees for foreigners.
Helicopter / sea plane costs a one-time fee of 30,000 rupees, renewal fee is 10,000 rupees. For launches above 100 feet you have to pay 15 thousand rupees, renewal fee is four thousand rupees. For a launch from 50 feet to 100 feet, one has to pay 10 thousand rupees at a time and the renewal fee is three thousand rupees. Seven and a half thousand rupees for boats below 50 feet and two and a half thousand rupees for them. Ordinary trawlers can stay in the Sundarbans for a fee of three thousand rupees, their renewal fee - 1500 rupees. The fee for a speedboat is five thousand rupees, it takes two thousand rupees to renew. Jaliboats which are known as tourist boats have to pay a one-time fee of Tk 2,000 and a renewal fee of Tk 1,000.
In addition to the Forest Department's travel fee, other expenses include a daily fee of Rs 500 for guides, Rs 300 for security guards, Rs 60 for launch crews and Rs 200 for telecommunication fees. Domestic tourists have to pay a fee of Tk 200 for video cameras and foreign tourists have to pay a fee of Tk 300.
During the Ras Purnima in the Sundarbans, pilgrims have to pay a fee of Rs 50 per person for 3 days, a registered trawler fee of Rs 200, an unregistered trawler fee of Rs 600 and a daily trawler fee of Rs 200.
Where to stay
Arrangements have been made to stay at Kachikhali at Tiger Point in Sundarbans, Nilkamal at Hiran Point and Forest Department Rest House at Katka. If you want to stay in Nilkamal, it will cost three thousand rupees for a room for domestic tourists and five thousand rupees for foreigners. Kachikhali will cost three thousand rupees for each room and five thousand rupees for foreigners. It will cost Rs 2,000 per room in Cuttack and Rs 5,000 per room for foreigners.
There are no residential hotel arrangements for staying in Bagerhat. Although the facilities at Mumtaz Hotel on Rail Road are less, the quality of service is relatively good, but the cost is a bit higher. You can also look for other hotels in the vicinity of Mumtaz Hotel.
There are tourism corporation hotels to stay in Mongla. There are some standard hotels for tourists to stay in the animal port.
If you want to stay in Satkhira city, you will find some standard hotels here. In Munshiganj of Shyamnagar, there is an arrangement to spend the night in the rest house and dormitory of NGO Sushilan.
Among the various quality residential hotels in Khulna city, Hotel Royal, Castle Salam, Hotel Tiger Garden, Hotel West Inn, Hotel City Inn, Hotel Millennium etc. are notable.
A must visit trip to the Sundarbans
Keep safe drinking water with you, as there is no such source of drinking water in the Sundarbans.
Keep with you the necessary medicine and first aid kits.
Arrange for an experienced tour operator.
Accompany skilled and armed forest guards for safety while traveling in the Sundarbans.
